Peter Grant-- Lead partner

Peter is the Co-Director of Restored, an international Christian alliance dedicated to ending violence against women. Restored works with churches to prevent and respond to sexual and domestic abuse.  Peter leads Restored’s  “First Man Standing” campaign, which asks men to respect women and to challenge other men as to their attitudes and behaviour.

Peter Grant has also, since 2010, been a Senior Fellow with Agulhas Applied Knowledge. He has undertaken a range of consultancy studies including leading teams for the Independent Commission for Aid Impact on their reviews of DFID’s work to address Under-five Mortality in Kenya (2014) and Violence against Women and Girls (2016).

Prior to this, Peter spent five years as International Director of Tearfund, and fifteen years working for the Department for International Development. His final post at DFID, from 2002 to 2005, was as Director, International with responsibility for the UK’s multilateral development partnerships.

Wanjala Wafula (Lead Partner)

I am the Founder and Executive Director of the Coexist Initiative, a multi-global award winning Kenyan NGO working across Kenya and the entire East Africa region as well as parts of Southern Africa. We work to promote gender transformation, human rights and social justice by targeting and working with men, boys and communities. I am a senior partner at Mululu Consultants and a co-founder and co-chair of the Kenya National Men’s Alliance for Gender Justice.

   I coordinate the consultancy arm of the organization currently partnering  with fifteen organizations across the world. Coexist has been selected by experts in the field as one of the most effective organization’s working to end violence against women and girls by addressing negative socialization processes, negative cultural practices, stereotypes and masculinity. I am a skilled and seasoned public speaker, group discussion facilitator and outcomes discriminator.

     Dr. Pacificah Florence Okemwa is a senior member of Academic staff at Kenyatta University. She holds a Masters’ (1993) and PhD (2007)in Religious Studies from the same institution. Pacificah is the current Chairperson and one of the founder members of the Department of Gender and Development Studies that was initiated in the year 2008 after successfully seeking a transfer from Religious Studies to Gender which was duly granted due to her passion and interest in gender matters. She is a self-taught Gender scholar, researcher and participant trainer. She has authored several book chapters and journal papers. Much of her research and publications are on Gender and Women issues. She has supervised 25 Masters and one PhD candidate to completion. In 2002, she won the Lecturer of the Year Award of Kenyatta University.

Prof. Lenah Nakhone Wati

She has a PhD in Soil Environmental Chemistry. She is also A British Council trained Gender and human rights consultant.

Prof. Genevieve A. Mwayuli

Holder of B. Ed (Sc) degree from the University of Nairobi & Doctoral and Masters degrees both from Moi University. Has experience of university teaching, administration and management; worked with the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, CUEA from April 2002 to August 2013; then with Garissa University College as Deputy Principal in charge of Academic and Student Affairs up to January 2017. Currently back at CUEA and actively involved in teaching, research and community service.

 

Advocate of community development and livelihood diversification in Africa; Justice and Peace education & research in Africa’s universities; Passionate about youth education and empowerment especially of girls and endeavoring to fulfill this passion as Member of the Executive Board, Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Africa and Chairperson, FAWE-Kenya Chapter as well as Member of the Scientific Committee in charge of Research and Publications of ACUHIAM, the Association of Catholic Universities and Higher Institutes of Africa and Madagascar;

URUJI JAPHET DAIDDO

He is an MBA(Finance) holder from the University of Nairobi, A Bachelor of Commerce graduate with over 15 years in senior managerial positions with bias in finance and audit. Uruji has worked in areas grants fundraising &  implementation with USAID, NZ-AID, AUS-AID, GF-TB and Malaria, Bernard Van Leer Foundation among others. He has also pioneered growth strategies in private and public sector companies as well as risk management
